Tuesday, December 30

[Jehovah] is the stability of your times.—Isa. 33:6.

When we go through a difficult trial, our feelings, thoughts, and reactions may not be as balanced as they normally are. We could feel as if we were being tossed from one strong emotion to the next. How does Jehovah help us when such emotions begin flooding over us? He assures us that he will stabilize us. When a ship encounters a storm, it may begin to rock dangerously from side to side. To counteract this movement, many ships have stabilizers that extend from each side of the ship under the water. These stabilizers can significantly reduce the rocking of the ship, making the situation safer and more bearable for passengers. However, many stabilization systems work best when the ship is moving forward. Similarly, Jehovah will stabilize us as we move forward faithfully in times of trial. w24.0122 ¶7-8

When a trial comes, our inner balance can be shaken. Our thinking may become scattered, and our emotions may rise and fall quickly. That reaction does not mean we lack faith. It simply shows that pressure has entered our life. Jehovah understands moments when we feel unsteady and reassures us that he supports us even then. (Psalm 94:18)

Isaiah 33:6 points us to what remains firm. Jehovah provides stability. Notice that stability is not the absence of problems, but the presence of something reliable. Even when circumstances do not change right away, Jehovah gives us a steady place to stand because our trust is anchored in him, not in our situation. (Isaiah 33:6; Isaiah 26:3)

How does that help arrive? Often through simple, faithful routines. Prayer keeps us connected to Jehovah. Bible reading shapes our thinking. Meetings remind us we are not alone. These actions may seem small, but together they strengthen our footing. Even if we stumble at times, Jehovah does not let us be thrown down. (Psalm 37:23, 24)

Jehovah understands emotional strain. He does not rush us or criticize us for feeling overwhelmed. Instead, he stays consistent. When we continue taking faithful steps, even while feeling unsteady, Jehovah renews us inwardly and helps us regain stability over time. (2 Corinthians 4:16)
